Can't fault the CS, just seems they're not expecting the demand. Even a manager I spoke to said they were struggling to keep up paperwork wise.

I have an engineer coming out next Friday morning (hopefully). I have told them I will see an engineer on the condition that if no problem is found on the BT network, I am allowed to leave the service penalty free.

Packet rearing its' head today

Dire this afternoon already

But the BTW tester still lies and puts my connection in green after my latest tap3, although it does acknowledge my line is performing badly and a fault should be raised.

Comments from a customer of last year - note the peak time comments

I would bet a pint that your line is working fine - my line (i.e. the VDSL connection to the cabinet) is very happy (it always has been) and I see the same slowdowns that we all see.

I truly believe this is a case of short-term over-subscription of new punters (a la the post above), and Daisy are traffic-shaping to keep things pottering along.
The underlying question is how long will it take SSE to pay Daisy to increase capacity in the backhaul to stop this ..... And how long can you wait for it to happen afore jumping ship ...

Not sure what you have done so far but i would put in an official complaint and ask it to be passed to a manager to handle you will then get one point of contact don't talk to anyone else and get there email address , tell them you want to leave

Use these speed tests that automatically log details and create graphs, send these over to sse as evidence as the graphs are a good way of showing its only slow in evenings/weekends, take screen grabs of how long its taking to download files from various sites, you have to gather loads of evidence, they may suggest a Openreach engineer visit, double check you wont be charged if no fault found

I already have an engineer coming out next Friday as it is the only time I can be around and I need to be here to speak to him/ her. I raised a complaint about 2 weeks ago, so am 1/4 of the way through the process. I am apparently dealing with the head of customer service with the complaint and am emailing him results daily, but he seems to have lost interest

Just a little miffed at their constant denial of a capacity problem, which is what it is, not a physical line problem.

Still rubbish here:

If they admitted it to those people that push for the problem to be resolved, it would cost them less money in the long run as I will also be pushing for compensation due to the poor speeds and they are paying for an engineer call out too. The longer I stay, the more I will claim.

Looking on the Moneysavingexpert forum, I have seen this message that seems to imply they may have realised opening the flood gates wasn't a good idea:
"Exclusive offer for existing SSE energy customers: 18 months FREE unlimited fibre broadband with Talk Anytime phone packages starting at just £21 a month"

Mines still going strong tonight , never been this fast, seems very odd that yours was ok now crap, mine was crap then ok, wonder if they let some people have decent speeds for a short period, not sure if i trust them to make it constant though
